All We Can is an international development and relief organisation based in NW1. Focused on serving the world’s most marginalised communities, All We Can is rooted in the Christian faith working to see every person’s potential fulfilled.

Y Care International works with disadvantaged young people around the world to get them into work and out of poverty.

The Challenge

1. IT Network merge

The two charities have merged, so the IT environments needed to be merged too. One had a full Cloud-based environment (utilising Microsoft365 and SharePoint), with the other having a local server and Microsoft365 IT setup. This was further complicated because All We Can shared their office and IT environment with another third party.

2. Office Move

The merged charity was moving to their own office space, separating completely from the third party.

3. Cyber Security

The newly merged charity needed a full range of cyber security policies set up and implemented.

Our Solution

Stage 1 – All We Can migration / office move

A new cloud-based network, based on Microsoft Tenant, was built for All We Can. Their email was migrated to Microsoft365 and a SharePoint environment was configured for files and folders. 30 laptops were sourced and configured.

Stage 2 – Y-Care Migration into AWC IT Environment as part of company merger

We migrated Y-Care’s MS365 Environment (Email & Data) to the AWC Tenant to provide a centralised IT environment across both brands.

Stage 3 – Security Policy Implementation

To provide a secure network for the merged charity, we

  • Implemented Microsoft Intune Security policies to manage access to the IT environment (data / email) with specific compliance conditions. One of these was ensuring there was no network access unless they were using a company device, or authorised encrypted devices.
  • Cyber Essentials Accreditation – process managed to ensure that the accreditation is gained (and we will ensure it is renewed on an annual basis)
  • Implemented our Gold Security Package which includes –
    • Microsoft 365 Security Monitoring – including tracking, alerting, and reporting on Office 365 usage & performance
    • All devices have been enrolled into our 24/7 Security Operations Centre Service to provide monitor, prevent, detect, investigate, and respond to cyber threats around the clock.
    • Endpoint Vulnerability Scanning delivers proactive scanning of AWC laptops / Workstations for vulnerable 3rd part applications.

The Results

The charities began working together officially in September 2021 and had a secure, combined IT infrastructure within weeks of the project starting. The two charities now operate as one joint team, whilst maintaining separate charitable statuses and brand identities.
